At Swanwick School and Sports College we believe in promoting Pupil Voice and teaching Leadership skills from an early age throughout our curriculum.
When the pupils enter Key Stage 4, they are given the opportunity to apply to be a SSSC school Prefect. This position has evolved from School Council and qualities and attributives required for this position have come from the pupils at SSSC.
A SSSC School Prefect needs to be … Responsible, respectful, reliable, resilient, motivational, approachable helpful, mature, calm, independent, caring and kind.
Pupils are asked to apply for the position of School Prefect using an online form introducing them to real life situations gaining experience for their future endeavours.
Successful Prefects are voted in by the staff team at SSSC and celebrated in front of the whole school with an embroidered piece of school uniform during a Celebration Assembly.
Once appointed, SSSC School Prefects then utilise their skills to support pupils in break and lunchtime enrichment activities, write a column in the school newsletter, organise Christmas parties for the Primary pupils, represent the school in various forms and some pupils become Anti Bullying Ambassadors and Recycling champions.
